How To Match Motorcycle and Trailer Wiring to 4 or 5-Way Connector

Updated 07/29/2022 | Published 07/28/2022

Question:

I just bought a 2007 Aspen Sentry tent trailer. I need to know if I use a 4-pin or a 5-pin configuration. The manual says the blue wire is accessory for trailer brakes but the tail lights are 2-tone. I dont know if the brakes are separate from the turn signal. Wiring to a 2016 Harley Freewheeler. Thanks.

I don't know what sort of wiring the motorcycle trailer or motorcycle uses (we have no way to look this up) but in order to be compatible you'll need to make sure both the brake and turn signals are combined on both the motorcycle and trailer or separate. It does not matter which they just both have to match. I recommend adjusting the wiring on the trailer to match the motorcycle. If it's separate and you need combined then use the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter part # RM-732. If it's combined and you need separate then use the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter part # 118158.

If you need a 5-way for the trailer (separate lighting) use part # HM47910 or if you need a 4-way for the trailer (combined lighting) then use part # HM48110.
