Trailer Tire Offset vs Height of Winch Plus Tire Bracket
Updated 07/28/2022 | Published 07/27/2022 >
Question:
Ultimately, the tire bracket is going to go through the center hole of my rim and, when hoisted up, squeeze the tire sidewall against the frame of my trailer. I see the 4-1/4inch height measurement for the winch, but that additional height is added for where the rim center hole sets below the winch on the bracket? Please see the attached sketch. The distance between the center hole of my rim and the edge of my spare sidewall is only 5inch and it obviously must be tight. Of course, I could jury-rig some sort of flexible donut to increase that dimension, but its just something to get lost when changing a flat in the typically worst circumstances. THANKS!

Thank you for the details and the photo!
I went out to the warehouse and found that the measurements you're asking about for the Lippert Spare Tire Winch with Offset Cable # LC159056 are 3-3/4" and 6" when it's wound all the way up. Your tire will be pushing against the trailer frame on that shorter end so I don't think you'll be needing any kind of spacer to keep it stable.
Attached is a review video and photo of the requested dimensions for you to check out.
