Does Yakima HD Crossbars Endcap Need to be Removed for Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier

Question:

I bought the Hullavator based on a note here that said it was compatible with the HD bars. While it will mount to the bars, I am unable to figure out how to install the end caps and and get Hullavator to come all the way down. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Appreciate the help!

Depending on the crossbars that are used (round, square, aero, or HD) you may or may not be able to place the endcap back in place. The endcap that comes with the Yakima HD bars is a bit longer and wider than most other endcaps so you won't be able to fit it back in place and still use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898. The Hullavator Pro arms rotate down but that is towards the edge of the crossbar so there won't be enough clearance with the larger HD bar endcaps.

So it does fit and work, you just have to leave the endcap off for this application.
