Can Trailer Tire Sizes be Mixed To Avoid Purchasing 4 New Tires Together

Question:
I am switching to 14 ply tires. I have 205/75/15 on my 16foot trailer. I will be switching to 225/75/15 because 14 ply is hard to find in the other size. My question is do I need to switch all four tires at once. I had a couple blow outs my last trip to Hot Springs off-road park. I only need 2 at the moment. It doesnt seem that it would matter if I change sizes on the same axle. What is your thoughts?

I completely get where you're coming from but the only time we ever say mix-matching tire sizes or even ply ratings is acceptable is in an emergency situation where you need to hobble to the nearest trailer shop for a repair. Aside from that it's a hard "no" as using different tires can cause uneven wear patterns which could eventually be dangerous so I recommend installing the same size tire at the same time on all axles involved.
For your application I recommend checking out the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi) # TR225LRE which is a great, reliable choice for this tire size. The max load range for this tire size though is E which means it's a 10-ply tire so if you're dead-set on 14-ply you need a larger tire; the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G (4,080 lbs at 110 psi) # PRG80235. If the 10-ply has a high enough weight rating I say so with the 10-ply so you aren't making your trailer ride really rigid due to really stiff tire sidewalls.
