Question:
I purchased this 2 bike bike rack. I still worry about mounting it on trailer bumper since I read so many posts online that say not to do it. I contacted the dealer where we bought our trailer and he said we should be fine if we just haul 2 bikes. Was wondering what your thoughts are on this? Plan on mounting the rack this weekend. Thanks.

Expert Reply:
As long as the bumper is 4 to 4-1/2 inches, made of steel, is square, and has a continuous weld the length of the bumper then there is nothing to worry about, especially since you got the go ahead from the dealer. To relieve some stress on the bumper you can attach a strap somewhere on the bike rack and tie it off to the back of the trailer. This will help take stress off the bumper and add a little peace of mind.
You could use straps like # 05605 or stabilization strap # 18050.
