Question:
I am looking at the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 DX27FR and DX83FR to replace the brake actuator on my boat trailer. I only need the inner assembly that slides back and forth. I was thinking about just pulling the pins and sliding the new inner assembly onto my existing mount on the trailer. If I dont care about the shape or mounting of the outer housing of the new actuator, can I use the inner assembly from either the DX27FR and DX83FX interchangeably? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can use the inner member from the # DX27FR and the # DX83FR interchangeably. Although they are designed to fit different trailer tongue sizes, they both use the same inner member # DX97FR. You could either purchase the inner member separately or if you want an extra/new housing the # DX27FR fits a 3" x 4" straight tongue and the # DX83FR fits a 3" x 5" straight tongue.
