Replacing A Broken Atwood Hot Water Heater With A Tank With A Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater
Published 05/27/2022 >
Question:
I have an automatic water heater which is the Atwood GC6AA-7 when I hook up my water hose to the outside of my wilderness RV and turn it on water seems to flood from underneath the back corner of the trailer where the water heater is at. I suppose the water heater must be broken. Is it hard to replace? How do you uninstall it and put in the new one? What will the cost be to replace it? Where do I order it?

It sounds like you have a rupture in the tank of your Atwood water heater. This would be a perfect time to switch to a tankless water heater. It will run more efficiently and provide you with instant hot water. You can replace your existing hot water heater with the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot - 60,000 BTU - 16" x 16" Door, part # FR98SR, with minimum alterations.
If you want to do the installation your self, here are the steps you will need to follow.
1. You will need to turn off your gas, electric, and water supply. Your hot water heater has a tank, so you will need to drain it. I also recommend removing the door to your existing hot water heater.
2. Disconnect your propane line.
3. Disconnect the wiring and your water line.
4. Remove the old water heater, making sure the cutout area is clean and dry.
5. Slide in the new hot water heater and make the connections.
6. Add the front door and turn on your gas, electric, and water supply.
I have included a product description link, a weblink describing this process in more detail, and a video of the Furrion RV Tankless water heater being installed on a travel trailer below.
