Recommended 16 Inch Wheel With 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern & 14-Ply Tire

Question:

Hi, I have a 2020 Cherokee wolfpack12 TH 5w. I have what I believe are lionshead liger wheels 16x6, 6 lug on 5.5 and castle rock tires 10 ply. I want to go to a 14 ply and replace the original wheels due to clear coat flaking and peeling. I’m aware of the 80psi stamp on the wheels I have now. Is it due to the lower pressure valve stems? Will they work with screw in valve stems? Is there another aluminum wheel in a 6 lug 16” with a higher weight capacity and psi rating I can use? Will be making a 3000 mi trip next month, trying to prepare. Thanks for your assistance

It is indeed the valve stem that gives you the psi rating for the wheels, and if you'd like you can go to a bolt-in valve stem rated for over 100 psi, the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem # AM20906.

You can use this valve stem along with a 16" x 6" wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern to get its complete 3,050 capacity, the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20746.

Then, since you want a 14-ply tire, you'd have to go with a load range G tire, with the correct one depending on the size you have on your trailer, either the Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWPRG235R16 or Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR.
