Roof Rack Recommendation for Transporting a Ladder on My 2000 Toyota Avalon

Since you will be using a ladder rack on your crossbars, I recommend using a through-crossbar style to avoid the pain of having to lift the ladder over components on the end of the crossbars when loading/unloading from the side. For that system, I recommend the following for your 2000 ToyotaAvalon with a bare roof:

- Inno Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 54" Long # INXB138-2
- Inno Through Feet # INXS250
- Custom Fit Kit # INK202

The advantage of these crossbars is that you can simply slide the ladder onto the crossbars from the side with no obstructions. If you choose, you can also slide the ladder onto the bars from the rear of your Avalon. In addition, I recommend using the Malone Rack Pads for Crossbars # MPG315. These pads are great for allowing you to protect the bars and the ladder when loading. The rack allows for 140 pounds of total weight capacity.

For straps to secure the ladder to the bars, I recommend using the etrailer straps # E98876-4. If you wish to have a theft-deterrence method as well, you can use the etrailer cable lock # e98891 to thread through the ladder and loop around the crossbars.
