Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Malone standard crossbar pad for stand-up paddleboards, part number MPG315.The Malone standard crossbar pads enable you to carry up to one stand-up paddleboard or surfboard on the roof of your vehicle safely and effectively. Basically, the pads are a foam pad encased in a fade resistant polyester covering, and this is gonna help protect your paddleboard when traveling to make sure there's no scratches or abrasions on it as if you we're just to put it on your roof rack by itself. It comes in a quantity of two pads, but the straps are sold separately. Today we used the Malone straps, which you could find on etrailer.com.The pads measure 30 inches long by four inches wide by two inches tall. Customers on our site compare this to the Inno multi-board standup paddleboard and surfboard pads for crossbars part number INA771. They both come in a quantity of two, but the Inno pads are shorter at 20 inches, versus the Malone's 30 inches. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the crossbar pads, let's go ahead and show you how they install. It's very simple.
They have hook and loop fasteners on the bottom to wrap around your crossbars, depending on what style you're using. Today we're gonna be using arrow bars. So we'll remove our push end fasteners here on both sides. And then we'll set it on our roof rack. See, they wrap around our arrow bars.
Take our push end, and thread our other end into the side. Down. When both ends are in, just tighten it up. We'll do this on both sides. Now with our pads installed, we can sit our stand-up paddleboard into place. We will not be able to open our hatch in this case, so just double check that before you try it.We'll make sure it's straight up at the front, and then we'll strap it down using our Malone straps that we purchased separately on etrailer.comAnd there you have it for the Malone standard crossbar pad for standup paddleboards, part number MPG315.

These soft foam pads makes it easy to safely transport 1 surfboard or 1 large SUP on your roof rack crossbars. Pads wrap firmly around crossbars and secure with hook and loop fasteners.I fit these on 2” square bars. They have a snug fit and grab the bars well. They come down about 1” on each side. They are what I call “old” school pads with Velcro in the middle and ties at the ends. They work well for my needs. I substituted plastic zip ties for the string with clip for a more permanent hold at the ends. I ordered the longest pads available to me and was looking for 34” , but could not find them.
These pads are for very small round bars. I had gotten them because some of the reviews said they would work for 1.5” round bars, but they won’t unless you only want 2/3 of your bar covered. As soon as you load a sup they would rotate and have to be fixed every time. I’ll just get some pipe insulation and have the wifey sew them up in some waterproof canvas.
Would be decent pads for smaller bars, but probably still not worth the price.
Love the length - they cover most of the cross bars. They provide a very cushiony ride for my boards. The downside is that they don't stay put. I had to tape them into place. But it works.
I used these parts as part of a package to convert a small boat trailer to an SUP trailer, to avoid having to fill our boards at the lake and it turned out great.
Seem well-made but they weren't wide enough for my Erickson ladder rack. Check the circumference of your crossbars before ordering. The width of these pads are 5.5 inches. Circumference of my bars was 8.5 inches.

These are made for roof rack crossbars. Not necessarily for the ladder racks.
Holding up well after one year. They could use more straps to keep them secure. Or just use some zip ties on each end.
It was exactly what I was looking for. The description on the website was very accurate. Works great.
they do not fit the OEM crossbars on my 2007 Nissan Xterra. I’m not returning them because I figured out a way to make them stay on with bungee ties.
great product and price! Very satisfied
great
