Question:
We have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi in it. Were looking at buying a pickup camper and are interested in the Timberen up to 6000lb load. Are we correct that these work similar to the air bag helpers just are self adjusting? Were kind of new to this camping thing so dont want to spend money unnecessarily for something that wont work for us. Well need something to stabilize the load and lessen or stop the rolling effect when the camper is inside. What are your thoughts?

When looking into rear suspension enhancement systems, one factor that you will want to consider is the type of load that you want to support. If your load will be a consistent size and weight, such as a pickup camper or trailer, then the Timbren springs are an excellent option. If you frequently haul loads that vary in size and weight, then the air bag suspension systems would be more ideal because they can adjust to different load sizes.
If you primarily need the suspension enhancement for your pickup camper, then I would go with the Timbren springs. We use a set of Timbren springs on our truck and they work great when towing our fifth wheel trailer because the load stays the same. They are also a more cost effective option over the air bag systems and they will still do a great job.
Rear suspension enhancement system are not really self adjusting. The main purpose of these systems is to assist your trucks factory suspension and to reduce sag when hauling a heavy load. There will be a small amount of sag initially, but the Timbren springs condense more under heavier weights, so they do not allow the truck to sag very much.
The Timbren springs that you referenced were designed to fit the 2009 to 2013 Ram 1500. The Timbren system that fits your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 is part # TDR1525H4. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out.
If you are interested in an air bag system, I recommend looking at the Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs, part # AL59551. This kit will fit your truck as long as the distance from the outside of the frame to the inside of the tire is at least 6 inches. If you have less than 6 inches, then you will want to go with the Timbren springs. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for the Air Lift kit as well.
