Is There a Way to Carry Fat Bikes with Thule Big Mouth Bike Rack
Updated 04/04/2022 | Published 04/03/2022 >
Question:
Hi, I have 4 Big Mouth roof racks. The straps are ok for 2.3 Maxxis mountain bike tires but I must clip them on the last notch in order to be able to close the buckle. However for 2.35 tires from Schwalbe, or bigger tires, the straps are a bit short to allow me to close the buckle so I either have to deflate the tires a bit which is a pain with tubeless tires or I pull on the straps as hard as I can and do not close the buckle. I noticed you sell replacement straps for the Big Mouth. Are those longer than the originals and will they allow me to strap bike tires of size up to 2.6? Kind regards

We've checked with Thule in the past about if there's a fat tire adapter for the BigMouth and they have told us there isn't a solution and also that there isn't a longer strap like you are looking for.
The Thule ProRide Roof Bike Rack # TH598004-FB is a really nice option that can handle fat bike tires that are up to 5 inches wide. Its padded clamp features a torque limiter that will hold your bike securely without the fear of over-tightening.
