Question:
I have a 2011 Chevy Silverado with a 6.2l gas engine. The exhaust exits under the passenger side bumper. I was wondering what is recommended for clearance between the end of the tailpipe and the front on the mud flap. It looks like I will have 4-5 inches.

The Rock Tamers Adjustable Mud Flap System, part # ERT00108, offers height, width and angle adjustment to match a range of vehicles. Please note that there must be at least 1-inch of clearance between the back of the ball mount face and the trailer hitch receiver opening to fit the Rock Tamers mounting bracket assembly. (Please see the attached photo.)
The mud flaps themselves measure 24 x 24 inches but their height can be reduced to maintain ground clearance by trimming along the pre-marked cut lines. The width of the flaps (measured from outside edge to outside edge) is adjustable from 66-3/4-inches to 97-inches via the adjustable support rods. The two arms of the mounting bracket can pivot front-to-back to vary the distance from the flaps to the rear of the vehicle. If you review the linked installation video you will see each of these adjustment features.
We suggest at least 8-inches of clearance between the exhaust tip and the front-facing surface of the mud flap. If your Silverado has an aftermarket exhaust tip this may require adjustment to place the flaps further to the rear.
If you do not already have one you might want to consider a locking hitch pin to secure the Rock Tamers to your hitch. A lock such as # e98880 secures your ball mount to your hitch and thereby lock the Rock Tamer to the vehicle as well.
