Recommended Tow Bar For Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates On A 2004 Jeep TJ

The Roadmaster 1421-1 base plate kit you referenced is a crossbar-style base plate so you'll need a tow bar like the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501. This tow bar has a ball mount connection to attach to your motorhome and is a very basic "get the job done, A to B" kind of tow bar.

If you'd prefer a nicer tow bar that's going to make your towing much more enjoyable then I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates # e44ZR. It features non-binding latches and telescoping, self supporting arms that make connecting and disconnecting your TJ on any terrain a breeze. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" and the shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop to keep tow bar parallel with road while towing without the use of a high/low hitch adapter. It also comes with safety cables included so you won't need to purchase these separately.

To flat tow your 2004 Jeep TJ you'll also need a tow bar wiring kit and braking system. If you haven't purchased these already then I have the following recommendations for you:

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 4-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15247. This diode kit allows you to use your Jeep TJ's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. If you end up using the # RM-501 then you'll also need safety cables, for this I recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643. The coiled design of these cables helps prevent them from dragging on the ground and being damaged.
