Question:

2017 Jayco JaySport 8SD Pop Up Camper. Current tires = Transmaster DS618 ST145R12. Age = 5 - 6 years. The current tires also show: E and 95L. I do have photos that I can send. Had a blow out last October. Looking for better tires with speed rating M/81mph. Load range C or D. Camper GVWR = 2,000lbs. Dry weight = 1,535lbs. Payload 465lbs. Rooftop AC was added and the camper has one propane tank plus a battery. What 12 tires would you suggest? Do you think I could go to a 13 tire? Top of current tire to wheel well = apx 4. Ive heard GREAT things about your customer service from people on some pop up camper facebook pages. Thanks and look forward to your reply.

You will be best to replace your current ST145R12 tires with the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10130. This tire is the same size so you know that there will not be any clearance issues. It carries the 81mph speed rating that you are wanting and has a load range D of 1,220lbs per tire which exceeds the GVWR on your 2017 Jayco JaySport 8SD.

If you wanted to go to a taller tire the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT53012C is 1/2" taller and will fit your current wheel. It also has a 81mph speed rating but is a load range C of 1,050lbs which is still above the GVWR of your Jayco.

The 13" diameter wheel and tire is going to be 3" taller so you will run into clearance issues as you only have 4" of clearance currently. It is recommended to have 3" of fender clearance for the suspension to flex.
