Question:
What would you recommend on purchasing for this application? I have a travel trailer camper and cant tow them, but would like to take the kayaks with us. And towing behind the TT is not allowed. As stated above, I have a 2011 Ford Expedition with a factory installed roof rack. I dont have kayaks as of yet. I just want to know how I can haul them before buying them. Thanks

I agree that the Thule Stacker Rooftop Kayak carrier # TH830 would be the best option for carrying 4 kayaks on your 2011 Ford Expedition. Please note that this carrier is not recommended if the kayaks you intend to purchase are longer than 10 feet, and it is not intended for use with ocean style kayaks, which are much wider.
I have confirmed with my technical contact at Thule and the Stacker 2 will work with factory cross bars that are up to 3 inches wide. Please note that the minimum required spread on your existing factory installed cross bars is 24 inches for carrying your kayaks. Also check your owners manual and make sure that the roof rack on your Expedition will support the weight of the kayaks and the carriers.
For carrying 4 kayaks you will want some additional tie down straps like the Thule Quick Draw Ratchet-Rope Tie Downs # TH855XT sold in sets of 2, and the Replacement Tie-Down Strap with Buckle # 753-2030-02, sold individually. I also recommend using the Thule Hood Loops # TH29 to secure the bow and stern of your kayak. You will want to use these in conjunction with other securing straps previously mentioned, these hooks are sold in sets of 2.
For loading and unloading the kayaks on your 2011 Ford Expedition you might find the Tire-mounted Wheel Step # PT68ZR useful. This is a step that wraps around your vehicle tire and is rated for up to 300 pounds. It also folds flat for easy storage when not in use.
I have included links to the parts listed above as well as some demonstration videos for your reference.
