Hello, Hypothetical. Trying to fit 33 inch Thule Force XT XL and 23 inch surfboard onto my Volvo V70 44 inches between side rails, 73 inches wide for an entire car Theres room for both on a 60 inch cross bar but there will be some overhang and weight indistribution. Will this be a problem, or is this feasible?

The Thule Force XT XL (22 cu/ft) # TH6359B is going to be 35-1/2" wide, and with a 23" wide surf board, you will need every inch of space on a 60" wide crossbar, but you won't run into issues with weight distribution being a cause for concern because of the normally limited capacity of vehicle roofs. With that said,. you don't want to have any of the items hanging outside of the crossbars, so I do recommend using a watersport carrier like the Thule Stacker # TH830 to carry your surfboard upright. This carrier comes with tie down straps and will provide you with a way to reduce the overall footprint of your surfboard and not have the bar space come into play, while also giving you a sturdy point to mount the surfboard to.

This would be the best solution to carry everything on the roof of your Volvo V70. If you can let me know what year your Volvo is, I'm happy to also recommend some crossbars that would work well on your factory side rails.
