Question:
I would like to purchase a trailer hitch for my 2016 Chevy Malibu. I need it for towing a trailer that I would likely rent from Uhaul. Do your wire kits plug into a Uhaul trailer? I just want to make sure I have working brake lights/turn signals so the cops dont pull me over.

For towing a trailer with your 2016 Chevrolet Malibu I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36652. This is a custom-fit Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and max tongue weight of 350 lbs. Make sure to consult your owner's manual to see what your vehicle is capable of towing since it will be the limiting factor. This hitch has a concealed cross tube and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
For the most reliable wiring harness, I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56387. This will plug into existing wiring on your vehicle and provide you with a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights. This is a standard 4-way and will be the same connection found on the U-Haul trailer you are renting. If you have the Malibu Premier you will need the # 118740 instead.
For a ball and ball mount, check out the Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitch # 36071 along with the # 19256 for a 1-7/8" ball or # 19258 for a 2" ball.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
