What Flat-Tow Setup do You Recommend for My 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with Standard Bumper?

Question:

One thing however, my coach does have air brakes, just doesn't have an airline at the rear. Are the air braking systems better than the Brake Buddy system? If so, are they enough better to have an airline hook up installed for it?

For flat-towing your 2014 Jeep Wrangler with a factory standard bumper, you need a base plate, a tow bar, a tow braking system, safety cables, and vehicle tow wiring. For those parts, I recommend the following:

- Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524
- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7

The great thing about the etrailer base plate kit is that is simply installs into your Wrangler's chassis. It comes with all required hardware. As far as the Blue Ox Avail, it allows for you to easily release your vehicle even in uneven ground and simply slides into the RV's hitch receiver without the need of a ball mount or base plate adapter. In addition, you will also receive the proportional action of the Brake Buddy Select 3 which applies the Wrangler's brakes at the same level that you apply the brakes to your RV. With the diode kit, this will allow you to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your Wrangler's lighting system.

Thanks so much for that information. I went ahead and reached out to my tech at Hopkins (the makers of Brake Buddy products), and he confirmed that the Brake Buddy Select 3 # HM39524 will be able to work great with your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. However, here at etrailer, we usually recommend using your air brakes when they are installed on your coach because there are some benefits to this setup. If you wish to use your air brakes, I recommend the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink - Air Brakes - Proportional # DM26VR. With the Air Force One, you have the benefit of avoiding the placement process for the Brake Buddy Select 3 every time you tow. The Coachlink monitoring system is a nice touch with the Air Force One because it allows you to see when your vehicle's brakes are being activated.
