How to Level Out a Truck and Trailer with Different Heights With a Weight Distribution System
Updated 08/08/2013 | Published 08/07/2013 >
Question:
I have 18inch height on the trailer, and 24inch height on the truck. Im using a 7inch that puts the top of the hitch at 24inch still with a WDH. Will that work?

With both your truck and trailer being on level ground, if you measured your truck from the ground to the ballmount and came up with 24 inches that is good. On the trailer side, if you again, measured from the level ground to the bottom of the coupler and came up with 18 inches then that is good as well.
According to your calculations, the difference between the receiver and coupler height is 6 inches, therefore a 7 inch drop shank should work well.
I have attached a FAQ article covering choosing the correct ball mount and determining the correct rise/drop which is the same principle of your weight distribution shank.
