What do you recommend to protect the kayak cowling using this load assist on Yakima Jetstream crossbars on a 5th Gen 4-runner?

By cowling, I assume you are referring to the coaming, which is the edge of the cockpit on your kayak. If this is the case, you will want the Inno Pads for Crossbars - 20" Wide # INA771. Typically these are used on a crossbar, and you may need two sets if your Yakima JetStream bars are currently bare, but they can also be used on the Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist # INA453 to protect your kayak when loading and unloading.
