Question:

I’m looking for a rack system and a basket or platform in aluminum to accommodate a 48”x48” cargo bag it can be bigger that those dimensions and that it doesn’t interfere with the sunroof “mysky” operation. Also, do you guys offer military discount? Vehicle information: Jeep Renegade 2016 with factory Raised Rails.

When considering a roof rack system and basket for your MySky system on your 2016 Jeep Renegade, it is important to know the clearance height requirement for the panels to open. While I unfortunately do not have that information, from my research and looking at videos of the MySky opening, it looks like the panels never raise higher than the factory raised rails on your roof.

With that being said, a crossbar system that will provide you with additional height on top of the rails you need includes the following parts:

- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 53" # TH711400
- Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401
- Thule Same-Key System Locks # TH450400

With this system, it provides your basket/cargo bag with 165 pounds of maximum weight capacity. It is always a good idea to consult with your owner's manual to make sure your roof can accommodate that much weight. In order to give you perspective of the added height that this rack gives to your roof, I went ahead and attached a video that shows this system installed on a 2016 Jeep Renegade with the MySky roof. To provide you with an approximate measurement of the height, it is about 4 inches from the top of your roof to the bottom of the crossbar. I recommend that you measure the height of panels when opening to make sure you have enough clearance. It is important to note that if you have a roof rack system and a basket/cargo bag with the roof open, there will be considerable amounts of noise from the wind resistance.
