Question:
I have a 2017 ram 3500 long bed, dually with factory hitch. I carry camper in truck bed, use a four ft extension on hitch, 2 1/2 inch diameter, to tow a tritoon boat. How much tongue weight will this set up hold at end of extension?

Expert Reply:
The Curt hitch part # C15801 that you referenced has a tongue weight capacity of 2,700 lbs and normally using a hitch adapter cuts that by 50 percent so you'd most likely have a capacity of 1,350 lbs but for a longer hitch extension the capacity reduction would be more and you'd have to check it to be sure. A lot of times they also have their own capacities as well so be sure to check that as well.
