Can SportRack Roof Cargo Box be Modified to Fit Different Crossbar Spread

Question:

If there is not enough distance between my factory installed crossbars on a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder for the # SR7095 car top carrier, can I drill new holes in the bottom of the carrier for the u bolts to make it fit?

According to my research it looks like the factory rack on your 2022 Nissan Pathfinder has a crossbar spread of 28" while the SportRack SkyLine XL Cargo Box # SR29ZR will fit a 21-1/2" crossbar spread. You can certainly drill new holes if you'd like but since this is a smaller box I would be afraid that increasing the distance between mounting locations that much might affect the integrity of the cargo box.

If you like the SportRack designs and you're willing to do a little modification then I recommend going with the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box # SR7018 instead because it fits 23-5/8", 25-7/8", 27-7/8", and 29-7/8" crossbar spreads.

If you'd rather not modify anything on the cargo box then I recommend the Thule Pulse # TH615 instead because it has an adjustable mounting system.
