Recommended Tire Pressure Monitoring System For 2 Trailers

I am looking for a TPMS for my 20foot dual axel trailer. The trailer has electric brakes. My first question is about how to install the signal booster on a utility trailer. I dont know where I would get the 12V power. Second, would you recommend the flow through sensors on a utility trailer? I am concerned the sensor may get damaged due to sticking out from the side of the tire. Also, I have a single axel utility trailer without brakes. Can I use the same system on both trailers? If you have a recommended brand and model, I would appreciate it. Thanks for the help!

Installing the signal booster that comes with the TireMinder Smart TPMS for RVs # TPMS-APP-6 will either require you to connect it to a battery or the 12 volt source on your 7 Way trailer wire. Most batteries on a trailer with electric brakes are designated for the break away system though and I do not recommend tapping into it. You want that at a full charge at all times so it can do the job it is there to do. I recommend hooking it up to the 12 volt source so it will only get power when your trailer is connected to your vehicle. A junction box, like the # 3375601101, makes this process a lot easier if you do not already have one.
The flow-through style TireMinder Smart TPMS for RVs and Trailers w Signal Booster # TM58FR is a newer product for us, so I haven't had a lot of experience with it as of yet. With that said, people do seem to like the pass-through style sensors as you do not need to remove the entire sensor to inflate or deflate the tire. However, there is still a cap protecting the Schrader valve that needs to be removed when inflating or deflating and then reinstalled once you are finished. They will stick out further than a standard sensor set up will, but I can honestly say that I have not had anyone damage one due to this. With all that said, having the more complicated set up doesn't really give you much more of an advantage. In my opinion anyway. Plus they are more expensive than standard ones.
I do prefer the sensor design of the TireMinder brand systems so they are the ones I tend to gravitate to. They also work very well and I have never had a problem with one, which is a big plus. With the booster installed and powered, it will reach 100 feet to 120 feet, so it really wouldn't be needed on your smaller utility trailer. As the # TPMS-APP-6 comes with six sensors, it will be absolutely no problem having two on this trailer and then the other four on the larger trailer with the booster.
