Replacement Mounting Hardware for a Thule Weekender Cargo Box and Subaru Forester

Question:
I bought a Thule Weekender roof rack, only to discover the part U shaped metal bar that attaches it to my factory Subaru Forester roof rack is too narrow to fit my roof rack bar. Is there any adaptor piece that can replace that one piece? Id hate to have to buy a new cargo carrier and/or rack system.

I think at some point the hardware that is now on your Weekender cargo box was added because that is not the original hardware for the box. The original hardware is actually the Quick Mount hardware # TH04997. The space between the outer holes on this hardware is 3-5/8 inches. If the crossbars on your Subaru Forester are less wide than 3-5/8 inches then this hardware will work.
If they are too wide then the issue is that you would need to make modifications to the box to use different hardware. Doing so can weaken the box and make it unsafe for use.
