Will The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Work With A 2022 Toyota Tacoma Pulling A Tandem Axle Camper?

Question:
I need to get a brake controller installed in my new 2022 Tacoma. I haven't used a Redarc before, but really like the look of them. Specifically the Tow-Pro Liberty. Don't need the super fancy one. Is this difficult to install? And is it any good? I pull a tandem axle camper and want to make sure it will still stop when I need it to.

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR will definitely work with your 2022 Toyota Tacoma. As all the new Tacoma trucks come with a tow package, it is actually easier to get it installed than you might expect.
First thing's first, you will need to attach the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED99FR directly into a port under your dash. Next, you need to plug this into the brake controller. You now have all the power going to and from the controller. Ever so easy.
Next is mounting everything. This will be only slightly more difficult, but this is due more to having a bunch of options than it actually being hard to do. The Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002 can also make the process easier as it can be used in an empty port on your dash. From the pictures I could find of the 22 Tacoma dash, it looks like there may be a perfect location directly in front of the gear lever/center console. I included a picture of this installed there on a 2019 Tacoma, but it does look to be very similar on a 22. However, if all these ports are being used, you do not necessarily need to use the panel and I have seen the knob installed in a port to the left of the steering wheel on a 2021 Tacoma. I included a picture of this as well.
As to the performance, it will definitely work for you. This can handle up to 4 brakes (2 axles) and will work with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes, so it has some versatility. The control knob also makes it easy to use and set up, so this is a highly recommended controller.
