It is definitely a good idea to have a trickle charger hooked up to your trailer battery in the colder months when it isn't being used. For this I recommend the CTEK MULTI US 7002 # CTEK56353. This designed for use with 12 volt batteries and offers pulse maintenance, which is what you will need it for, that automatically switches on when a full charge has been reached. It also has an easy to use quick-disconnect system that you can actually leave on the battery terminals. I highly recommend this part.
