For your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon, you'll need to first add a 4 way trailer connector if not already equipped. I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467 for this. This kit includes everything you need and will plug directly into your existing factory harness so you do not have to do any cutting or splicing.
Next, you'll need add a 7 way. I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 to complete this process. If you already have a factory 4 way you can skip the first step and go straight to adding a 7 way.
After you've added the 7 way, you are ready to install a brake controller. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. This is by far one of our most popular brake controllers for it's easy installation, simple operation, and slick, clean finish.
