I have a great solution for you that is a relatively straight forward installation on your 2022 Toyota Highlander. The first thing you will need is a 4-way connector that will be installed and then adapted to become a 7-way. For this you can use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR. The T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the trim panel near the driver's side rear seat belt bracket. You will have to pull back the side trim panel to access this harness.
Next, you will need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L. This will use the 4-way installed and the additional included parts to create a 7-way connector. You will also want to pick up the Curt No-Drill Bracket # C57202 to provide a mounting point for the 7-way bracket included in the # ETBC7L kit.
The last thing you need will be the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. This brake controller wirelessly connects to your smartphone, turning your phone into a brake control interface. The compact unit plugs in to your 7-way trailer connector. There is no complicated install and no bulky cab-mounted unit.
I have also included links to the installation instructions and videos of the products being installed to help you out. But this is the easiest a 7-way and brake controller install gets.
