Question:

I am in the need of a roof rack for my 2022 Subaru Legacy. I will be transporting my kayak to and from the beach and am looking at the Yakima JayLow Y04073. So I need a rack that will fit my vehicle and allow the JayLow to fit on top. I am preferable to Yakima as I have used their stuff before and really liked it. What do you guys have for me?

If you will be taking your kayak to and from the beach, the Yakima JayLow # Y04073 is definitely a good option. This will fit just about anything, folds flat when not in use, and can carry up to two kayaks, with the addition of a set of Bow/Stern Tie-Down Ropes # Y04031, if ever needed. Now to get this attached to your 2022 Subaru Legacy, let's check out the roof rack.

For this, I recommend the Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00425, SkyLine Towers # Y53TR, and Landing Pad 22 # Y00248. Going with this set up will give you aerodynamic bars for less noise, a 165 pound capacity to cover the weight of your kayak, and will also have no issue working with the JayLow carrier. The Landing Pads will actually fit into the fixed mounting points on your roof and will make for an easy install. One of the big pluses with this style of mount is that they are easy to take the rack off of when not in use and even include snap in protectors for just this purpose.
