Question:
Shopping for a bike carrier for my 50 pound ebike. I have noted several nice carriers but in the description you state to not use them behind a fifth wheel, travel trailer or flat towed vehicle. Why, what is the issue here? I have a 2018 Keystone Montana with a 2inch receiver capable of 200 pounds. What is the reason to not use one of these carriers? Thanks for any info/advice.

The reason why most bike carriers like the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # TH83JV are not rated to work with a fifth-wheel, flat-towed vehicle, or travel trailer is because there is additional force and torque exerted on the rack when mounted on these modes of transport.
With that being said, we do have a great option for carrying a 50-pound electric bike on a rack that is rated for your 2018 Keystone Montana fifth-wheel trailer. The best route is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # S94FR. The E-Spec is constructed for brute strength. It has an impressive per-bike weight capacity of 70 pounds and can withstand the added torque while on a fifth-wheel trailer. It also comes with theft-deterring locks that protect the bikes and the rack itself. As far as bumper clearance, the E-Spec comes with an extra long shank measurement of 10-1/2 inches to the closest part of the rack from the center pinhole to avoid bumper clearance issues.
With the E-Spec, you will have to purchase a fat tire adapter # S64679 if you have wheels wider than 3 inches. If your e-bike is a step-thru frame or an alternative frame style, you will need the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO in order to mount to the attaching hooks.
