For your 30,000 BTU wall mounted heater you will need to use a dual-stage propane regulator. The correct regulator will be the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator - 11" Water Column Outlet # 108220. You will need a vertical regulator if your is mounted upright and the vent is on the bottom.

If you need a horizontal regulator, the MB Sturgis Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator - 11" Water Column Outlet # 108221 will also work for your heater. You will need a horizontal regulator if your regulator is mounted sideways and the vent on the side points down.

We have a 500 gallon propane tank. One line goes to the house the other to the garage. Do we use the same regulators suggested and can it be outside and the line ran into building? Thank you for your help!

@TheresaW Short answer is that I would not use the regulators mentioned above as the primary regulator on a 500 gallon home-style propane tank. Those regulators are really meant for RV cylinder setups and is rated for about 345,000 BTU per hour, with 1/4 inch inverted flare inlets and a 3/8 inch outlet. A 500 gallon tank is usually set up with its own first stage regulator at the tank, then a properly sized second stage regulator at the building, sized and installed to local code by the propane supplier. For safety and code compliance, I would have your propane company supply and install the correct regulators for that tank instead of trying to adapt an RV unit.
