Why Does Curt Exclude the Front Mount Hitch # C31017 For a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie

Question:

I wish to purchace this hitch for the front of my truck but I have a 3500 Laramie. I cannot understand why it is excluded and wouldl iike more detail. I know I will have to trim the air dam to make it fit, however I cannot understand what else woudl be / would cause a problem. I do not want to use the other style hitch reccomended as it will hang down lower than the air dam and thus reduce my ground clearance. If it is the trim level, why is the 2500 Laramie not excluded?

I spoke with my technical contact at Curt referencing the front hitch # C31017 and he gave me the following reasons why Curt states that this hitch will not fit your 2005 Dodge 3500 Laramie.

The manufacturing of the 3500 Laramie is physically slightly different than the other Dodge Ram trucks with reference to how aftermarket products can mount. With this difference the Laramie does not have a standard fit for some aftermarket products. Because the Laramie has a completely different bumper, Curt # C31017 will not fit.

I realize that you really want the Curt hitch, however, since it will not fit your truck, I called my technical contact at Draw-Tite to verify that the Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch # 65046 will fit your 2005 Laramie and he verified it would fit. The installation instructions are attached.
