How to Flat Tow a 2018 Ram 1500 4X2 Automatic

Just so you are aware, from the OEM, only 4 wheel drive models should be flat towed. Choosing to install the drive shaft disconnect on your 2 wheel drive model is a work around but keep in mind you will be flat towing at your own risk.

You do not identify what trim level you have, but if it is the Big Horn, Laramie, Longhorn or Tradesman, then I suggest:

Base Plates - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM-52289-5
Tow Bar - Roadmaster Nighthawk, # RM-676
Wiring kit - Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-152

If you have the 1500 Rebel, Sport or Express trim package:

Base Plates - Demco, # DM9517335
Tow Bar - Demco Dominator, # DM9511008
Wiring kit - Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, # RM-15267

For any trim level 2018 Ram 1500 you will need supplemental braking as this is required by all states. I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play # SM99251. This is a proportional braking system which is a one-time install that you leave in so you'll never have to deactivate or reactivate it.

You will need Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25, as well as a stop light switch kit, although that will depend on how your Ram's pedals are set up.

- Without adjustable pedals and without electronic shifter # RM-751460

- With adjustable pedals and with electronic shifter # RM-751468
- With adjustable pedals and without electronic shifter # RM-751461

Finally, it is likely you will need a high-low adapter such to keep your tow bar level with your tow vehicle. The adapter you need is going to depend on some measurements you'll need to take.
