Comparing the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty and Elite Trailer Brake Controllers

Question:

I installed the Liberty Brake Controller on my 2020 Tacoma. During my 2 month trip out west, it quite working several times and required a re boot by removing the fuse in my fuse box to reset the computer. I contacted Redarc and they were more than happy to help and replaced my Liberty with a Elite. My question is are they having a lot of problems with the Liberty as the replacement instructions were on a pre printed sheet and it appears I am not the only one having this problem. I now need to purchase another brake controller for a different truck and need more information before I buy something that may have a problem. Thank you in advance for your answer

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller part # RED24FR and Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR are both great options. The main difference between them is the proportional and user controller model on the Elite whereas the Liberty just has the proportional mode. If you do off-road towing then you'll want the user controller mode so in which case I'd recommend the Elite. If not then either will suite you well.

The only issue we have experienced with the Liberty is on Toyotas which was an early issue upon release that has since been fixed.
