Correct Rear SumoSprings for 2016 Thor Outlaw with Side Plates

Updated 10/04/2021 | Published 10/01/2021

Question:

Which rear Sumo Springs do you recommend for a 2016 Thor Outlaw E-450, the 46 or 54? I do store my 860 pound Harley in the back garage approximately 1200 pounds total with accessories. Also when I am not taking the motorcycle I am towing a 20foot car hauler trailer carrying either a Subaru or Jeep. I did install Koni front shocks, front and rear anti-sway bars and Sumos in the front, which I purchased from E-trailer. All a big help. There appears to be some sort of flat plate attached to the frame, it looks as if this would also have to be drill through you think it could cause any problems with installation? Photos attached. Thank you for your assistance.

I do have an option for you but if you have anything mounted on the outside of the frame then the Rebel and Maxim could potentially not fit as they also attach to the outside of the frame. Instead, I recommend the Solo which mounted on the bottom of the frame, the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-130-54 in particular.

I am not sure what the side plates or for or if they are all on all models but for the models with these I recommend the Solo over the Rebel or Maxim. For models without side plates I recommend the Maxim part # SSR-106-47-1.
