Troubleshooting A Difficult Removal Of A Drive Model EEDV06 RV Stereo System
Updated 09/28/2021 | Published 09/27/2021 >
Question:
I have a 2017 Forest River Wildwood travel trailer. It currently has a Drive model EEDV06 AV system that I need to replace. I am going to replace it with the Jensen unit JWM62A. I have removed the side panels of the Drive model EEDV06 to expose the screws. However, I cannot see well enough to figure out what to use to remove the screws that are holding the unit in the wall. I cant tell if I need a Phillips screwdriver, an Allen wrench or something else. Can you help me with this? I have attached a photo of the unit I am trying to remove. Thanks.

Expert Reply:
The Drive EEDV06 comes with Phillips head screws but the dealer or if you bought this trailer used the previous owner could have used any combination of screws laying around to mount this stereo. They also could have stripped the screwheads so one simple trick that tends to work with stripped out screws is to put a rubber band against the head of the screw for more traction and then try to unscrew it.
I've attached the wiring diagrams for both your old Drive EEDV06 and the Jensen RV Stereo # JWM60A to help you wire in your new stereo.
