Question:

I have a 2021 Ram 2500 diesel 4X4 with a mega cab and a 6.5 foot bed. It has the puck system in place. I am wondering if I need a sliding hitch and which hitch will be the best to provide level towing for a grand design 29r trailer.

To find the correct hitch height you will need to measure the height from the ground to the floor of your truck bed and the height from the ground to the king pin plate while the camper is level. The difference between these two measurements is what you'll need to set the height of your hitch to. You'll also want to ensure that the nose of your camper has at minimum 6" of clearance from the top of your truck's bedrails.

For your 2021 Ram 2500 I recommend the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider # C16541 with the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # C16022. Since you have a short bed you'll want a slider to help prevent the nose of your 5th wheel from coming into contact with the cab of your truck. This sliding hitch has an adjustable height of 17-1/2" - 21-1/2".

If the measurements fall outside of the 17-1/2"- 21-1/2" please reply back and I can look for an alternative solution.
