Can Just One Brake Assembly On Trailer Be Replaced Or Do All Need To Be Replaced At Same Time?
Published 09/02/2021 >
Question:
I purchased this left and right assembly but I really only have an issue with the left side. The magnet came loose and caused a problem. Do you think it will be ok just to replace the left side only? Theres nothing wrong with the right I just bought the set so I would have it if needed. The trailer is only 3 years only lightly used and the pads are not worn hardly at all. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:
Since only the left side brake on your trailer brakes is damaged there is nothing wrong with just using the left side assembly included with the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA you purchased and leaving the original right side assembly alone.
Typically it is a good idea to go ahead and do both sides that way both pads had the same amount of wear but since you mentioned the right side pads are pretty much new you will not have any issues not replacing it.
I included a video of the # AKEBRK-7-SA being installed for you to take a look at.
