Replacement Wheels and Tires for 20.5x8x10 Tires on 1993 Coleman Arcadia

Updated 09/02/2021 | Published 08/30/2021

Question:

Need to replace 3 wheels for 1993 Coleman/Fleetwood Pioneer Arcadia pop up camper and looking for a recommendation. Sticker on side of camper reads GVWR 1995, GAWR 1810 with 20.5X8X10 tire, 10X6 rims at 35 psi cold. What are the best tires and rims for a replacement? Current tires appear to be the originals and are 5 on 4 1/2, load range C max psi 50. Are radials even made in this size? I worry about heat and blow outs. My tow vehicle is 2018 Subaru Outback.

I'll start out by saying that if you're traveling for long distances on the highway, you're correct that typically radial tires help dissipate heat much better than bias ply tires. However, as long as you keep your tires inflated properly and don't overload the trailer then you can usually eliminate most, if not all of your concerns with blow outs. You could also add a TPMS monitoring system like the TST TPMS for RVs - Color Display - Signal Booster - 4 Flow Through Tire Sensors # TST-507-FT-4-C to keep tabs on the air pressure and temperature of your tires to help alleviate any concerns.

If you wanted to go with a radial tire you would need to go up to a 12 inch wheel, which may or may not work with your trailer depending on the clearances of your current trailer tires from the frame and wheel wells. If you wanted to go that route, the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM31202 would be a good choice that are 0.8" taller than your 20.5x8x10 tires. These would have appropriate capacity for your 1993 Coleman Pioneer Arcadia and they're radial tires like you were looking for.

If you wanted to stick with your existing wheel size then the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # AM3H490 you were looking at are also properly rated for your Pioneer Arcadia and would be a good choice.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out as well.
