Question:

I purchased a Thule hulivator for easy kayak lifting for factory installed roof rack. From etrailer.com I purchased the wing bar evo 118 black and the evo raised rail. After application I am unsure of the evo raised rail being the best fit for the forester. Reading further, I stopped installation and have this question. Which should I use...the evo raised rail or the rapid crossroad feet for Thule crossbars for the Thule hullivator?

Thank you for your question. I prefer the Thule EVO raised rail foot to the Thule Crossroad foot. Most of the time there will not be a difference between the two with regard to the weight capacity of the rack, I think the clamp does a better job resisting rotation than the strap. You will have to make sure you have at least 4" of crossbar length extending from the tower for the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs - Side Loading, part # TH898, to work on your vehicle's roof rack. You will not be able to use the 47" WingBar EVO crossbars. They are not long enough. Your crossbars need to extend beyond your Thule foot, when mounted, between 4" and 8". I have included a diagram below to show that distance.

The Thule roof rack for your 2019 Subaru Forester will consist of the following;

Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 53" Long - Qty 2, part # TH711420,
Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Factory Raised Rails - Qty 4, part # TH710401, and the
Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 6, part # TH450600.

This roof rack has the next size up in crossbar length. The rack has a weight limit of 165 lbs. The crossbars are elliptical in shape with a t-channel, so this Hullavator can be mounted via that channel. The crossbars shape helps to reduce wind noise and aid in fuel efficiency. With the addition of the Thule lock cylinders, you can lock this rack to your vehicle and lock the Hullavator to the rack.
