Should I Use a Left or Right-Threaded Center Cap on My Motorhome?

Question:
I need a cap and the accessories for the left side drivers side of my motorhome / Freightliner chassis. If its going on the left side would I need a left threaded or Right Threaded? If I have to start to thread it to the left is it a left thread and if I start it to the right is it a right thread?

Expert Reply:
As far as a left-threaded or right-threaded cap for your motorhome, right-handed threads run clockwise, and left-handed threads run counterclockwise. The reason for this difference is that some applications of screws can come loose with the motion of the vehicle. With that being said, left screws are the most beneficial for trailer caps, but it will not make a very significant difference.
If you need a recommendation for a wheel cap that will fit the diameter of your wheel, I would be happy to assist you if you can provide me the wheel's lug pattern and diameter.
