Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14361 will fit your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. It is a class IV 2" receiver that is rated for a trailer weight of 10,000lbs and 1,000lbs of tongue weight. With a weight distribution hitch the capacity increases to 12,000lbs of trailer weight and 1,200lbs of tongue weight. Be sure to reach out to a Dodge dealer with your VIN so that they can give you the maximum weight capacities of your Ram 1500.
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41929 has the highest weight rating currently available for your Ram. It is also a class IV 2" receiver but weight capacity is 12,000lbs for the trailer and 1,200lbs tongue weight. With a weight distribution hitch capacity increases to 15,000lbs trailer weight and 1,500lbs of tongue weight. Again you will want to not exceed the capacities given by a Dodge for your Ram.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55381 will only work on your Ram if it came from the factory with the 7-way trailer wiring harness. As your Ram did not include a factory hitch you will most likely need the Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit # HM48925. This is a universal kit that will require Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05744-5 to give you a weather tight connection. It will provide you with a 4-way flat connector for your Ram.
The large U-Haul trailer uses surge brakes and only requires this 4-way flat connection for the trailer.
