Question:
I really like the IN510 platform, but I wonder if it fits the 2021 Outback factory system in terms of width? Looking at the numbers it may be a bit too wide to fit between the factory system?

I have a solution for you. The Inno Roof Deck Platform Rack # INA510 will work on your factory crossbar system on your 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon if your crossbars have at least 43-1/2 inches of usable crossbar space. Also, your factory crossbars must be less than or equal to 3-1/2 inches wide x 1-3/8 inches tall. In order to get these dimensions, I recommend measuring your crossbars.
If you discover that you need a slimmer roof basket, I recommend the Yakima OffGrid Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 44" Long x 40" Wide - 165 lbs # Y07138. The OffGrid has a width of 40 inches, so it will be 3-1/2 inches shorter on the sides. One of the great advantages of the OffGrid is that it comes with a removable fairing that decreases wind noise and drag during transport. You also have the ability to add extra security to your rack with the Yakima Same-Key System Lock Cores # Y07204. I went ahead and attached a video of the OffGrid review for a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon to give you perspective of the fit.

You are using the longer dimension of the INNO INA510 as the width of the platform. The listed size of the platform is 42.24"L x 39.5"W The front and back crossbars on a gen 6 Subaru Outback (2021 thru 2025) are 41.5" and 41.0" respectively. They are inserted into holes on the large side rails, which measure 42" outside to outside, and distance between the side rails is 36.5" at the front crossbar connection point, and 35.5 at the back crossbar connection point. So, while the crossbars will have enough room for the 39.5" platform, the port and starboard sides will probably rest on the side rail, which has a higher profile than the where the crossbars are attached. The crossbars have a slight arch, and the top of this arch is at the same plane as with the tops of the side rails, with the lower ends of the crossbars about .5" below that plane. | _______________________________________ | |__|___ __|__| Kinda like this rather crude representation, without the arch, which I can't draw... Anyway, if you examine a Subaru Outback (not a Wilderness, though), you will see what I mean. Given these measurements, think that the INA510 will fit, but I'm not sure what will happen at the side rails.
