Troubleshooting An E1 Error Code On A Furrion Tankless Water Heater
Updated 05/28/2025 | Published 07/09/2021 >
Question:
Our brand new Furion tankless water heater won’t ignite. We are fairly certain that it isn’t getting enough propane. Tanks are full, stove burns blue flames. An E 1 error code shows. Called your customer service but have yet to receive a call back also emailed Furion almost 2 weeks ago. Thoughts?

An E1 code on your Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot - 60,000 BTU Item # FR93FR means that it tried to ignite twice but didn't have the correct amount of gas pressure. First check to make sure your gas valves are fully open and if they are you'll need to do it have a licensed technician check the pressure on the line and possibly replace your regulator to ensure you're getting 11" WC.
If you have a horizontal regulator you can use the MB Sturgis Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator - 11" Water Column Outlet Item # 108221 or if you have a vertical regulator you can use the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator - 11" Water Column Outlet Item # 108220.

I have had this error display 2 times now. About 2 years apart. Both issues were immediately after a huge rain and wind storm. After the first time I received the error, I called the support team of where I bought the camper and they told me the same thing about the water column and gas issues. I didn't believe them because it was a new camper. We left that location and when we got to a new location, it water heater worked fine. Fast forward to 2 years later (this past weekend) when this message happened again. We had a huge rain and wind storm hit and the message appeared again so this had to tell me it had something to do with the components of the water heater getting wet. Everything looked normal but it just would not stay lit to heat the water. A friend and I actually figured out the problem this time. The heater unit is mounted in the camper but the bottom rear potion of the heater enclosure is not level and slightly slopes into the camper. I got my leaf blower and blew a ton of air into the bottom of the water header enclosure to get the water out and the water heater started working again. So, if it rains a little, you should be ok, but if you get a hard rain where the wind blows it into the heater unit on the side of the camper when is message starts appearing, you should try making sure there is no water in the back before troubleshooting gas lines. BTW, my camper support team and the camper warrantee department were NO HELP with this problem. To fix this, I will be putting some type of shim on the top edge of the enclosure to hopefully slant that bottom edge out and instead of letting water pool.

Turn your stove on low and it'll kick on. Quick trick and it works especially since my family uses a instapot to cook and propane to shower.
