Question:
When drilling through the top of the pop up camper, how do you ensure youre not drilling through the fabric or other essential pieces that would be on the other side under the roof when collapsed?

There are a couple things that will help make sure that you are installing the Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack for Pop-Up Campers and Camper Shells - Steel - 7' Long - 150 lbs # S80510 on your pop-up camper. The first tip is to make sure that the mounting brackets are no further than a 1/2 inch away from the edge of your camper. Also, the crossbars should be at least 30 inches apart from each other. One of the most important steps is step #7: "Using a 1/8”drill, drill one of the previously marked holes (Diagram 6). If the drill bit does not contact a solid are once it penetrates the material on the top — STOP DRILLING. You do not have a structural part under the top to securely mount the rack."
These steps will help you ensure that you safely install your roof rack without damaging your camper. I went ahead and attached screenshots of the installation steps from the manual and attached a video of an example installation.
