What Does an OL Error on the Curt Triflex Brake Controller Mean?

We are getting a flashing OL And a terrible noise at the hitch A loud grinding, creaking sound

The "OL" error code on the Curt Triflex # C24VV means there is a short in the blue wire output circuit or trailer plug. Basically all you need to do is find the short and repair it. With the noise you are getting at the hitch, I can almost guarantee the short is at or near the 7 Way plug near your hitch.
