Using the 3/16 Hand Winch Cable with the Dutton & Lainson Single Speed Hand Winch

I plan on using a 3/16 cable with this winch, but I am not sure if I need to order the cable fastener, or if this cable fastener is only needed for 3/8 cable. Please advise. Thanks!
