I know the lid open/close wouldnt work, but would the other buttons work? On/off, auto temp, temp up/down?

I have a solution for you but the # MA59FR is not compatible with the MaxxAir 5100K. Instead you'll want to use the Replacement Handheld Remote for Maxxair Roof Vent Intake/Exhaust Fans - Qty 1 # MA00A01150K, which is compatible with the 5100K model and will operate the lid as well as the fan settings.
